The project

A country seen from above, one hundred years on.

For the 100th anniversary of the Republic, Türkiye İş Bankası released a 29 October film closing with the line “Bizi biz yapan seni, çok seviyoruz Cumhuriyet” (We love you, Republic, for making us who we are).

I shot the photography and drone footage that carries the film’s landscape journey: sunrise balloons over Cappadocia, the rooftops around Galata, İshak Paşa Palace in the snow, the Bosphorus and the green valleys of the Black Sea.

The aim was a sense of scale and pride: one country, from its oldest stones to its cities, seen in the light of a single anniversary.
