Running above the Mesopotamian plain.

At the Mezopotamya Ultra Trail, The North Face came in as global sponsor and needed imagery that placed its athletes in one of the oldest landscapes on earth.

I photographed runners in Mardin at golden hour: on the rooftops of the old town, beside the fluted domes of its historic madrasas and on stone walls looking out over the Mesopotamian plain.

The light, the stone and the athletes were treated as one palette, so the brand sits naturally inside the place instead of on top of it.
